Discover the quieter, more traditional side of Seoul through a day of historic neighbourhoods, Korean music, and cultural experiences. This small-group experience combines a guided walk through Bukchon Hanok Village with a hands-on lesson in playing the gayageum, one of Korea’s most iconic traditional string instruments.
Begin your day at Anguk Station, where you’ll meet your FanWork host at 10:00 AM before setting off to explore Bukchon. Located in central Seoul between Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung palaces, this historic neighbourhood is known for its traditional hanok houses, tiled rooftops, narrow alleys, and beautiful views across the city. As you walk through its charming streets, discover how traditional Korean architecture fits into modern Seoul and enjoy plenty of opportunities to take photos along the way.
During the walk, visit a historic hanok house and explore cultural stops that offer a closer look at traditional Korean life and architecture. Your host will help you discover the character of the neighbourhood, point out interesting details, and guide you to scenic photo spots. There will also be time for a relaxed café stop or a short rest, allowing you to enjoy Bukchon at a comfortable pace rather than rushing from one attraction to another.
After the morning walk, take a lunch break and enjoy a meal at your own pace before continuing to the afternoon activity. Then, step into the world of Korean traditional music with a hands-on gayageum lesson, dressed in a beautiful traditional Korean hanbok.
The gayageum is a traditional Korean zither with strings that are plucked to produce its distinctive, expressive sound. With guidance from your instructor, you’ll learn about the instrument, discover basic playing techniques, and try producing your own melodies. The approximately 80-minute lesson is designed for beginners, so you don’t need any previous musical experience. It’s an opportunity to slow down, listen closely, and connect with Korean culture through sound and movement.
To finish the day, gather with your group for a photo overlooking the Bukchon skyline. Surrounded by traditional rooftops and the scenery of historic Seoul, it’s a lovely way to capture the memories of a day spent exploring Korean heritage, music, and traditional clothing.
Ideal for culture lovers, solo travellers, and anyone looking for a more immersive experience of Korea, this tour offers a thoughtful balance of sightseeing, creativity, and cultural discovery. Rather than simply observing traditions, you’ll have the chance to experience them yourself — from walking through historic hanok streets to playing a traditional instrument in hanbok.
