Create Your Own Korean Moon Jar at Cerdu Studio
Discover the beauty of traditional Korean ceramics and create a unique keepsake with your own hands! Join a one-hour pottery wheel workshop at Cerdu Studio in Gangnam, where you’ll learn to shape your very own dalhangari (moon jar), one of Korea’s most iconic ceramic designs.
Inspired by the full moon, traditional Korean moon jars are admired for their softly rounded silhouettes, milky-white surfaces, and understated elegance. Their subtle asymmetry is part of their charm, celebrating the natural beauty of handmade craftsmanship. During this workshop, you’ll discover the story behind these timeless ceramics and what makes them such a beloved symbol of Korean artistic heritage.
With guidance from your instructor, you’ll get hands-on experience at the pottery wheel, learning how to work with clay, centre it, and gradually shape it into a small, rounded jar. No previous pottery experience is needed! The class is designed for complete beginners, so you can relax, get creative, and enjoy the process at your own pace.
Once your moon jar takes shape, you’ll have the opportunity to add personal touches and choose your preferred glaze colour for the finished piece. Your creation will then be carefully dried, glazed, and kiln-fired by the studio team, transforming your handmade work into a ceramic keepsake.
The workshop is taught in English and is perfect for solo travellers, couples, friends, or families looking for a creative way to experience Korean culture beyond the usual sightseeing spots.
Your finished moon jar will be available for collection once the firing process is complete, or you can arrange shipping for an additional fee. Take home more than a souvenir — create your own interpretation of a centuries-old Korean ceramic tradition.
