Start with the Employer’s Instructions

Use this visual guide to plan a clear, relevant résumé for the position you are applying to.

Tailor the Application

Match your experience and skills to the actual role, and use the requested form where one is supplied.

Choose a Clear Format

Keep the document easy to read. The card’s photo and file-format advice is not a universal requirement; follow the employer’s instructions.

Select Relevant Sections

Focus on relevant contact details, education, experience, skills and achievements. Provide references only when requested and with permission.

Show Specific Achievements

Use accurate, specific outcomes and quantify results where you can substantiate them.

Avoid One-Size-Fits-All Assumptions

The old cards mention age, marital status and nationality. Do not assume you must volunteer unrelated personal information. Check the employer’s actual application requirements.

Proofread Before Submitting

Check names, dates, contact details, spelling and attachments. A template is a tool, not a substitute for tailoring the application.
